founder’s Story
EJ McCoy, Co-Founder & CEO
When people think about entrepreneurship, they often look for the next big trend. EJ McCoy learned early that some of the best opportunities aren’t found by following the crowd. They’re discovered by solving everyday problems exceptionally well.
EJ’s entrepreneurial journey began in Allen, Texas, where he learned the value of hard work at a young age. What started as mowing lawns in his neighborhood evolved into a passion for business ownership, customer service, and creating opportunities for others. Through years of mentorship, personal development, and real-world experience, he developed a belief that continues to guide Scoop Soldiers today: success comes from doing the simple things better than anyone else.
In 2010, EJ partnered with Josh Cahill to launch Scoop Soldiers. While others overlooked the pet waste removal industry, they saw something different. They saw a recurring service, a growing pet ownership market, and an opportunity to build a company centered around reliability, professionalism, and customer care. What started as a local operation quickly gained momentum as homeowners embraced a service that made their lives easier and their yards more enjoyable.
As the business expanded throughout Texas and into new markets, EJ and Josh focused relentlessly on refining systems, technology, customer acquisition strategies, and operational processes. Their goal wasn’t simply to grow a service company. They wanted to build a scalable platform that could create meaningful ownership opportunities for entrepreneurs across the country.
That vision became reality in 2019 when Scoop Soldiers launched its franchise program. By combining years of operational experience with proven marketing systems, centralized support, and a strong brand identity, the company created a franchise model designed to help owners launch quickly and grow with confidence. Today, Scoop Soldiers continues to expand nationwide while supporting franchise partners with the tools, resources, and leadership needed to build valuable businesses in their local communities.
Beyond his role as CEO, EJ is committed to championing entrepreneurship and helping others discover opportunities in industries that many people overlook. Through educational content, industry leadership, and business mentorship, he continues to advocate for the power of service-based businesses to create financial freedom, personal growth, and long-term wealth.
But growth and recognition have never been the ultimate goal.
For EJ, the true measure of success is creating opportunities for others. Every new franchise awarded represents another entrepreneur pursuing financial freedom, building a legacy for their family, and taking control of their future. That mission remains at the heart of Scoop Soldiers and inspires everything the company does.
“We don’t just build territories. We build business owners. We believe ordinary people, armed with the right systems, support, and determination, can achieve extraordinary results.”
