Michael Brecht finds success in the business of his dreams

When it comes to owning your own business, there are a lot of factors to consider. But for Michael Brecht, one thing was clear: he wanted to be his own boss. So when he came across Scoop Soldiers – the premier pet waste removal franchise – he saw the potential and quit his job to open locations in College Station and Tomball, Texas.

Brecht had been in the oil and gas industry for the last decade and has lived in College Station since 1997. He decided to launch his own business with the help of the Scoop Soldiers franchise so he could give back to the community he calls home. With over 5.88 million pet-owning households in Texas and the state with the second-highest number of pet owners, his new business came with built-in demand.

Getting into the first territory was an easy decision for me. It was affordable and gave me the opportunity to build from the ground up.”– Michael Brecht

Brecht opened his first territory in College Station in 2022 and expanded four months later to open another territory in the Bryan-College Station area. He always enjoyed working outside, so being able to scoop poop in these territories every day is something he actually looked forward to doing.

A small part of a quickly growing top dog franchise

The addition of Michael Brecht’s two Texas locations is a part of Scoop Soldiers’ plan to sign between 15 and 20 new agreements in 2022 following phenomenal growth last year that more than doubled the brand’s franchise locations throughout the country.

Our brand has become a premier player in the growing ‘pooper scooper’ services segment. As demand for our services continues to grow, we’re excited to see Michael bring our business model to life in College Station.”  – Josh Cahill, Scoop Soldiers’ CEO.

And there’s plenty of untapped potential just laying around in backyards across America. U.S. pet owners were projected to spend over $9.7 billion on pet services in 2021 alone*. And it was this amazing growth potential as well as a wide-open field of available franchise territories that sealed the deal for Brecht.

While the most successful Scoop Soldiers franchisees have a head for business, Scoop Soldiers franchises have been built from the ground up to make it easy for anyone to get up and running fast – typically within a few weeks rather than months. All of the billing and invoicing for its franchisees, as well as leading, sales, marketing and website management is handled by the corporate support team and the complete technology platform. Service schedules are built and are done so in a way that provides the most efficiency for franchisees.

Michael had the experience and vision to see a bigger picture where he would grow into a manager of the business. He was very comfortable with following a process as he went through the awarding of his franchises.” – Scott Oaks, Scoop Soldiers’ VP of Franchise Development
